John Ford Group helps you to maintain your independence with a bathroom designed around you.
The bathroom is often the first room in the home where everyday tasks can become more challenging.
Whether you're concerned about slips and falls, finding it harder to access a bath or shower, or simply want greater comfort and confidence, the right adaptations can make all the difference.
From level access showers and body driers to specialist toilets and fully accessible wet rooms, we create stylish, practical spaces that enhance safety without compromising on design.
The best thing I ever did was to have my bathroom adapted to a level access shower. I feel so much safer. Everyone was really helpful and the fitters were lovely. Everything within the bathroom has made my life so much easier.

We are over the moon with our superb new wet room that was created by John Ford Group. From the onset they took on the project with energy and from design to finish was just 6 weeks. Thank you to John and his team for all their hard work.

We specialise in bathroom adaptations for people living with disabilities, serious injuries and changing mobility needs. Unlike general builders, our focus is on creating practical, accessible spaces that support independence, dignity and quality of life.
We understand that an adapted bathroom is about more than construction — it’s about helping people feel safer, more confident and less reliant on others in their own home.
Our experience working alongside Occupational Therapists, Case Managers and rehabilitation professionals means we understand how to deliver solutions that are tailored to each individual’s needs.
From accessible bathrooms and wet rooms to level-access showers and specialist bathing solutions, we manage the process with care, expertise and clear communication, ensuring your adaptation is delivered by specialists who understand what matters.

What is a bathroom adaptation?
A bathroom adaptation is a modification that makes bathing and toileting safer, easier and more comfortable. Adaptations can range from installing grab rails, non slip safety flooring and specialist toilets to creating a level access shower or a fully accessible wet room.
How do I know if I need a bathroom adaptation?
If you're finding it more difficult to get in and out of the bath, feeling unsteady in the shower, struggling with toileting, or worrying about slips and falls, a bathroom adaptation could help you remain safe and independent at home for longer.
What is a level-access shower?
A level-access shower has no step or raised tray, creating a smooth transition from the bathroom floor into the showering area. This makes it easier and safer for people with reduced mobility, wheelchair users, and those who require assistance when bathing.
What's the difference between a level-access shower and a wet room?
A level-access shower creates a step-free showering area within a bathroom, whereas a wet room waterproofs the entire room. Both offer excellent accessibility.
Can bathroom adaptations still look stylish?
Absolutely. Modern bathroom adaptations are designed to blend seamlessly into your home. From contemporary level-access showers and elegant grab rails to discreet specialist equipment, accessibility no longer means compromising on style. We will never make your bathroom look or feel like a hospital!
What specialist toileting solutions are available?
There are a range of options available, including raised-height toilets, wall-hung toilets, grab rails, and washer-dryer toilets that provide gentle washing and drying functions. These solutions can improve comfort, dignity and independence for people with mobility challenges.
Do I need an Occupational Therapist assessment before adapting my bathroom?
An Occupational Therapist assessment is highly recommended. They can help identify your current and future needs, ensuring any adaptations are suitable, effective and future proof. We have close relationships with a handful of Occupational Therapist so can always provide recommendations should you need it.
How long does it take to install an accessible bathroom?
Timescales vary depending on the scope of the project. A level-access shower installation can often be completed within one to two weeks, while larger projects such as complete wet room conversions may take longer. We will always provide a clear programme before work begins.
Can I get financial help towards bathroom adaptations?
You may be eligible for financial assistance through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) or other local authority funding schemes. Eligibility depends on your circumstances and location, and your local council will be able to advise on available support.
Will adapting my bathroom help me stay independent at home?
For many people, yes. Bathroom adaptations can significantly reduce the risk of falls, make personal care easier, and increase confidence when carrying out everyday tasks. The right solution can help you continue living safely and comfortably in your own home for years to come.
Every person's needs are different. Whether you're considering a level access shower, specialist toilet or accessible wet room, we're here to provide expert advice and help you find the right solution.
